„Better than I‘ve been“, (fast) Namensgeber der Digi-10“, kommt ohne Schnörkel aus. Für „Slightly off the wall“ und „Better than I’ve been“ spendieren BIG BAD SHAKIN‘ zudem Live-Videos.

With “Better than we’ve been”, BIG BAD SHAKIN’ return from the studio with a brilliant bang. The digital 10″, just released on their traditional label Foxrocks, convinces with a varied mix of seven songs that forces even the most lethargic sofa owl to move.

BIG BAD SHAKIN’ take no prisoners: Already the opening song “Slightly off the wall” catapults the listener directly into the concert hall centre of an Elvis performance in Las Vegas of the 70s – only with the usual significantly more steam on the groove. The pleasant renaissance feeling is consolidated with “Wave you good-goodbye”, a parquet sweep with wonderful Motown flair and winking, barely audible acoustic guitar. Mighty furniture, on the other hand, is moved in the interpretation of Conway Twitty’s “Lonely Blue Boy”. The ballad, recorded in one take, not only sweeps the badly glued toupee off your helmet, but also warps the door frame of your unloved neighbour at a suitable listening volume. “Radio Mayday” is a phantom in music. Grandiosely spun sailor’s yarn in short story form, which takes you into other spheres for three minutes. “Better than I’ve been”, (almost) the eponym of the “Digi-10”, gets by without frills. Straight ahead, blasted modern rock ‘n’ roll, mosh pit starter, the definite invitation to go crazy. For “Slightly off the wall” and “Better than I’ve been”, BIG BAD SHAKIN’ also provide live videos. Nothing should be left out. And so Otis Redding’s “Shout bamalama”, presented in a crisp, punky way with a dash of West Coast laissez-faire, sets the tone.

Recorded in the Rockin’ Chair Studios Berlin by Moe Jaksch and mixed by former Aggro label figurehead Dan Neumann, BIG BAD SHAKIN’ deliver a formidably convincing listening experience: It sounds like BIG BAD SHAKIN’ sound and yet everything is new. And cool!
